Since the start of the year we have been trying to get Stebonheath to be the host of Wales v Serbia World Cup qualifying match and last week we had the privilege of showing the manager of Wales Rugby Leagues senior side around our fantastic home ground.
Bob Wilson the Wales first team manager and the North Wales Crusaders team manager wanted to see the whole package that West Wales had to offer, we were fortunate enough to have a beautiful day in Llanelli to show Bob around the facilities that would cater for the Welsh side whilst they prepare for their fixture against Serbia.
As the day went on, we finally reached Stebonheath to show Bob the whole stadium and what Stebonheath Park had to offer to a rugby league side. We are very proud of our home ground as it has a lot to offer as well as an amazingly well kept all year round pitch.
Bob then left to take everything on board that had been discussed throughout the day, and in order to decide with the rest of his staff whether or not the fixture should be held in Stebonheath.
The information has now been released and we are all delighted to announce that this year’s world cup qualifier between Wales and Serbia will be held at Stebonheath, the home of the West Wales Raiders.
We would like to thank Bob Wilson, John Kear and Chris Thair for giving us this fantastic opportunity to show how well West Wales can support this We would like to thank everyone that helped and supported us in gaining this opportunity to host the game and realise that the event will take a lot of hard work to prepare, therefore, we would welcome any support from local businesses, companies and councils.
