New research has revealed the UK’s top 10 most pet-friendly coastal locations and Carmarthenshire takes 6th place.

The team at Millets have analysed Google reviews, water quality ratings, ocean temperatures, facilities, accessibility and parking costs to reveal the best coastal towns in England and Wales, as well as the UK’s most pet-friendly coastal destinations.

The research also revealed the following:
  • Tynemouth has been crowned the best coastal destination after scoring 8.49 out of 10 overall. Weymouth and Poole followed in second and third place, with the coastal locations scoring 8.33 and 8.09 respectively.
  • The region in England and Wales with the highest number of beaches is the South West of England, with 452. This is over 250 more than South East England which has the second-highest number of beaches, totalling 199.

  • Clacton-on-Sea has recorded the warmest water temperature of any beach in England and Wales at 18.2°C.
  • Bournemouth Beach has the highest parking price of any beach in England and Wales, averaging £9.20 for up to four hours. In comparison, Hartlepool Sea Front’s parking cost is the lowest at just £2.00.
