Keith Davies, Labour Assembly Member for Llanelli said:

“This is a very worrying time for those working at Tata in Trostre and Port Talbot and my thoughts are with them and their families.

“I believe it is important that this matter is discussed in the National Assembly for Wales and I support the First Minister in his call for a debate. I have written to the Presiding Officer to make my request known to her.

“The repeated inaction of the UK Government is undeniable. Disinterested in standing up for British industries, they have become more concerned with courting the Chinese than taking a hard line to ensure Welsh jobs are not lost.

“I will continue to work with Nia Griffith MP and my Labour colleagues across South Wales to make sure that the voice of steelworkers and the interests of our local economy are the main priority.”
