Ahead of the newest installment of the Marvel Franchise, Deadpool 3Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were spotted filming a fighting scene on an unnamed beach in the south of the UK early last week1.

Brecon Beacons National Park is the most popular film location in Wales

Casino Hawks can reveal that Brecon Beacons National Park is the most popular movie location to visit in Wales, and the eleventh most popular in the UK, with 132,402 hashtags on Instagram. Located in South Wales, the park made an appearance in the film The Dark Knight Rises. The park’s stunning landscapes posed as a backdrop for various scenes, including the dramatic Bane-led attack on a CIA plane and the subsequent aerial chase. Also featured in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Brecon Beacons National Park has 3681% more Instagram hashtags than Nant Gwynant, which was featured in “King Arthur“, an earlier film in the franchise.

Ranking second with 2,216 Instagram Hashtags is Freshwater West beach. Renowned by Harry Potter fans for the significant role it played in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, posing as Shell Cottage, a safe house for Harry, Ron and Hermione as they collected Voldemort’s horcruxes . It is also the location where beloved character Dobby was killed, with many fans who visit the beach laying socks on his ‘grave’ as tribute.

Pembroke Castle ranks third with 12,503 hashtags on Instagram – 257% more than Nant Gwynant, which was featured in King Arthur and ranks fourth. Located in Pembrokeshire, Pembroke Castle had a significant role in romantic drama, Me Before You, where it was prominently featured in multiple memorable scenes. The castle’s exterior served as the grand entrance for Lou Clark, played by Emilia Clarke, as she began her caregiving job for Will Traynor, played by Sam Claflin, whilst the courtyard provided a picturesque backdrop throughout the film as their relationship unfolded.

Casino Hawks can reveal that Glen Coe, Scotland, is the most popular movie location to visit in the UK with 569,290 Instagram hashtags – over double that of Somerset House, London, which was also used in the James Bond franchise (James Bond: Golden Eye). Glencoe featured in James Bond: Skyfall, the highest-grossing film in the James Bond franchise2, and was chosen as the iconic location for Skyfall House, Bond’s childhood home.
