A win against the Ospreys last weekend has put the Scarlets in a strong position for a top four finish in this season’s Guinness PRO12 but scrum half Gareth Davies hopes a big home crowd this Saturday will help the region to another important victory over Cardiff Blues.
Trailing two points behind second placed Leinster a win on Saturday would see the Scarlets remain in the race for a top two finish but Davies is aware of the challenge ahead at the Parc with Danny Wilson’s Cardiff Blues on a winning streak.
“The way they have been playing in the last couple of weeks shows the work Danny has been doing with the boys. They are playing some good stuff, it is going to be a tough game for us.
“The league standings show we are the leading team in Wales at the moment, but the Blues have been playing some fantastic stuff and the Ospreys are a class side as well. It is good to have a good couple of teams in Wales playing well.”
Scarlets welcome the Blues to the Parc in the penultimate home game of the season this Saturday, 2nd April kick-off 3pm, before taking on Glasgow at the Parc, Newport Gwent Dragons at Principality Stadium and Munster away from home on the final regular weekend of the season.
Davies went on to say that a big home crowd on Saturday should help the side secure an all-important victory; “It is nice to come back here and hopefully we will have a good crowd on Saturday. The Blues have been in good form and it is another massive game for us. Hopefully we can get our own house in order and we will be good enough to beat them.
“We are in a good place at the moment, we have been targeting the top four since the start of the season, if we can get another win, we can look at the top two which is another target of ours.”
