With a series of train strikes taking place over the next week, many drivers may find more traffic on the road as commuters and visitors get around. Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar comments;

 “With train strikes taking place this week, more commuters may have no choice but to get behind the wheel meaning longer commute times. Spending more time in the car can lead to higher fuel consumption. And, with our research showing 44% of drivers shop around for the cheapest fuel prices, they may be looking to save wherever possible.

 “In order to save on fuel when getting around, there are a few ways that drivers can travel a little further. A lighter load will help reduce the amount of fuel used so it’s good to empty the vehicle of any unnecessary items ahead of a trip. Avoiding using features such as heated seats and air-con can also save on fuel consumption. And, its important drivers check their tyre pressure as having the incorrect level can cause a drag on the wheel and effect the amount of fuel being used.

 “Drivers may be keen to make the most out of the fuel in their tank with fuel costs high and having to find alternate ways to their destination. Our guide on how to save fuel is filled with helpful tips to make their fuel go further.”
