Colourful banners have gone up across Swansea as the city counts down to all the fun that’s on its way this summer.
Enjoy Swansea Bay banners on dozens of lamp posts along Oystermouth Road and Mumbles Road are now catching the eyes of thousands of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians every day.
Swansea Council is behind the marketing campaign.
Some of the events this summer include the free Wales National Airshow on Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3, as well as the Swansea International Jazz Festival from Friday June 17 to Sunday June 19, where visitors can enjoy a number of free workshops and concerts.
Rugby fans can also look forward to a Beach Rugby Wales tournament on Swansea beach on Saturday July 23. Welsh internationals Shane Williams, Richard Hibbard and Paul James are among the stars to have taken part in the past.
In addition to adding vibrancy to the destination during the main holiday season, the purpose of the Enjoy Swansea Bay banners is to drive visitors and residents to the Enjoy Swansea Bay website, which is the main in-destination website for all events in the area.
People whose events aren’t listed on the website are encouraged to upload details themselves for free.
Lisa Evans, from Swansea Council’s Cultural Services team, said: “The sight of the Enjoy Swansea Bay banners along one of the busiest roads in and out of the city is a sure sign that summer is on its way.
“There are plenty of events and activities taking place over coming months to cater for people of all ages and interests in Swansea. From sport and indoor and outdoor theatre to music and science, you name it and you can guarantee that Swansea offers it.
“Events making up our Enjoy Swansea Bay programme are important because they give local people access to world class entertainment on their doorsteps. They’re also fantastic news for traders because they generate spending and further boost a tourism industry that’s already worth more than £390m a year to the Swansea Bay economy.”
