Today the government pushed out some important guidance on gas safety hobs, following an explosion atĀ Eckington Riverside Caravan Park in Pershore earlier this year.
Our Public Health Advisor, Ashley Martin, has released a statement (below) on this, which we think would be of interest to your readership.
Ashley Martin, Public Health Advisor at RoSPA, said: āFollowing Ā an investigation by Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) into defective gas hobs, we are aware that nine gas hob manufacturers in the UK have rolled out an action plan to ensure these faults are rectified. RoSPA are concerned that there may be homes across the country with defective gas hobs
We urge people to visit the Government web page to see if their appliance is affected and to follow the instructions regarding contacting the manufacturers if their product is listed. We support the Government advice thatĀ while all affected consumers should check the model links, owners and consumers in caravans, leisure homes and motorhomes should do this as matter of urgency.ā
For further information on this issue, the Government has released a web page with further details, which can be found here:Ā Important Safety Message ā Gas Hob Elbow Joints Corrective Action Programme – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
