One the busiest of the West Wales amateur theatre companies, Curtain Up Theatre Company, will be performing at Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, on Saturday, April 23.

The Curtain Up group has raised more than ÂŁ40,000 for local charities in recent years.

Saturday sees them raising cash for Diabetes UK.

The show is titled Aspects of Andrew Lloyd Webber and will feature the works of the award-winning composer.

There’ll be songs from the hit musicals Evita, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more.

It is being billed as a family show not to be missed!

Meanwhile, CĂ´r Meibion Llanelli Male Voice Choir will be doing their bit for a popular local cause on Friday, April 22.

The choristers will be starring at a special evening to raise funds for the Parc Howard Association, the group working tirelessly to improve the park and house and keep it open for the public.

‘Music for The Parc’ will be staged at The Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli, and will be hosted by Carmarthenshire’s popular pantomime entertainer ‘Denny Twp’.

The evening starts at 7pm and will also feature The Phil Harmonics, the rock and pop ladies choir from Llanelli.

There will also be performances from CĂ´r Ysgol Ffwrnes, singer Megan Thomas, a past winner of the Gethin Hughes Memorial Bursary prize, and classicial guitarist Cai Charles, a past winner of the Llanelli Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition.

Côr Meibion Llanelli musical director Mr D Eifion Thomas said: “Of course, the event is all about raising funds for Parc Howard, a place which is very near and dear to the hearts of so many Carmarthenshire people.

“Along the way, we can promise some great musical entertainment. Côr Meibion Llanelli will serve up some great concert favourities – and even, perhaps, a little bit of Elvis Presley along the way.

“The Phil Harmonics were a huge hit when they performed at Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli at Christmas and I expect they will have a repertoire guaranteed to make the evening swing.

“The evening also features some of our very best young, up-and-coming talent.

“And, of course, we have the wonderful Denny Twp as our host, so laughter is guaranteed.”

Tickets are ÂŁ10. Available at Mossies in Llanelli Market Precinct and from Parc Howard Association members.
