Clyne Gardens will come to life next month with a series of live music performances, guided tours and a rare plant sale.
Thousands are visitors are again expected to enjoy the gardens throughout May during the annual Clyne in Bloom festival.
May marks the time when the Green Flag-winning gardens are at their most visually spectacular, with Rhododendrons and Azaleas among the flowers in full bloom.
The festival, part of Swansea Council’s Enjoy Swansea Bay programme of events and activities, is supported by the Friends of the City of Swansea Botanical Complex.
Other highlights of Clyne Gardens include a gazebo overlooking Swansea Bay, a Japanese bridge, an Italian bridge, a tower and a bluebell wood.
Mark Russ, Swansea Council’s Parks Services Manager, said: “Our parks services staff do a fantastic job both at Clyne Gardens, as well as at many other parks and green spaces across the city, in maintaining them to a very high standard. This benefits hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors to Swansea every year.
“Clyne Gardens is at its world class best throughout May, so it’s a great time for people to pay a visit, see the terrific floral displays and enjoy the live music and other activities in a truly spectacular setting.
“With over 2,000 different species of plants and a variety of wildlife, Clyne Gardens is one of the leading facilities of its kind in the UK.”
Clyne in Bloom activities include garden tours every Wednesday and Saturday throughout May at 2pm, as well as a rare plant sale on Sunday May 15 from 10am to 4pm.
Live music performances include folk music from Jebbers on Sunday May 1 from 3pm to 4pm, soul and golden oldies from Trim Bling Star on Sunday May 1 from 4pm to 5pm, the Swansea Accordion Orchestra on Sunday May 8 from 3pm to 5pm, and the U3A Ukulele Band on Sunday May 15 from 3pm to 5pm. Morriston Big Band will be performing on Sunday May 22 from 3pm to 5pm, with local musicians performing cover songs on Sunday May 29 from 3pm to 5pm.
