Halloween is just around the corner and while Barbie is likely to be the most popular costume this year following the breakout success of the new film earlier this year, new research suggests those looking for a more horror-inspired look may want to go less Margot Robbie and more Sigourney Weaver.
That’s because Ellen Ripley, the lead character from the Alien franchise, has been crowned horror’s ultimate final girl despite having only appeared in the first four movies and having not been seen on screen since 1997.

Another series which has undeniably withstood the test of time, and the only one on the list to contribute not one but two ‘final girls’, is that of Scream.
Having run for 27 years so far, and with Scream 7 confirmed to be in the works and aiming for a 2024 release date, the film series first introduced us to Sidney Prescott back in 1996 and is wildly credited with revitalising the slasher and horror genre as a whole.
Sidney Prescott was the only one of the top three Final Girls to be ranked highest in an individual category, being the most searched-for character with over eight thousand Google searches every month.
