At 9.47pm on Friday, November 3rd, the Llanelli, Gorseinon, Tumble, Pontiets, Morriston, Pontarddulais and Carmarthen crews were called to an incident on Stepney Street, Llanelli.
Crews responded to a fire within a disused commercial unit in a three-storey building measuring approximately 40m x 15m. Crews worked quickly to identify and access water supplies and sectorised the incident, with the focus being on preventing horizontal fire spread to neighbouring commercial premises. Extensive fire damage was caused to the building and a structural engineer was requested to assess the property. Dyfed Powys Police were also in attendance.
At the height of the incident, five fire appliances, one turntable ladder, one water bowser and the Incident Command Unit was in attendance, along with several officers to facilitate effective command and control. Crews successfully prevented fire spread to neighbouring commercial properties that should be able to reopen quickly with only minor water damage.
Crews remained at the scene to continue dampening down before leaving at 8.32am on Saturday, November 4th.
