New survey reveals “Singin’ in the Rain” is Wales’s most popular shower song

A new survey, conducted by online bathroom retailer, Victoria Plum has revealed which the people of Wales listen to most in the shower.

With six and a half per cent of the overall votes, “Singin’ in the Rain” placed in the top spot, followed closely by The Weather Girls hit “It’s Raining Men” which was chosen by five per cent of participants.

The weather-themed songs were followed by two Queen hits; “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “I Want to Break Free” in joint third place, each having four per cent of responses.

There was also a tie for fourth place with “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette and “Purple Rain” by Prince, which continued the strong weather theme throughout the list.

In terms of artists, Queen topped the list with close to 10 per cent of votes, followed by Gene Kelly with just over seven per cent.

The Weather Girls rounded off the top three gaining close to five per cent, while ABBA, Adele and Coldplay followed in joint fourth place.

Commenting on the survey results interior design expert at Victoria Plum, Ruth Foster said: “It’s interesting to see the amount of weather-themed tracks chosen with three in the top five alone.

“There also appeared to be a preference for older music, with the majority of tracks on the list being released before the year 2000.

“What was also clear is that the people of Wales have a strong preference for Queen songs when  showering with the band gaining close to ten per cent of votes and having two tracks in the top five.”
