Ashmole & Co are delighted to announce a number of new trainee accountants have recently started working with the firm as part of the new Apprenticeship Scheme. The largest accountancy firm in south Wales has four new recruits in offices across south and mid Wales.
Ceirion Harris, from Mountain Ash, is one of the first Trainee Accountants to start working with the Ammanford office under the Apprenticeship Scheme. Ceirion first joined the team during his gap year from University in 2021 and after completing his degree in Accounting and Finance at Swansea University he has now joined as one of the new Trainees.
Day to day Ceirion completes year-end accounts, VAT returns and helps with queries from clients. Ceirion says one of the most important skills he brings to the position is communication with the team and with clients. While on tasks he tries to ensure he is in constant communication with the specific team he’s working with to ensure there’s no communication errors and everything is done correctly.
Ceirion said, “The most rewarding part of the job is applying my studied university knowledge into a practical experience. While working on a task I recognise parts of the work that I have previously studied throughout university and therefore have previous experience on. This helps me in particular tasks and also motivates me to continue my studies to benefit my future role. I’m very grateful to Ashmole & Co for giving me this opportunity.”
During his spare time Ceirion enjoys participating in a lot of sport. He plays for a local football team as well as going to the gym and running on a regular basis.
With the majority of the Partners at Ashmole & Co having done their training with the firm they are keen to continue with the Apprenticeship Scheme again in 2024.
Those interested in training with Ashmole & Co can be school, college or university graduates. The firm will accept applications from those currently studying for their GCSEs, A Levels or Degree. Anyone who is looking for a new career path in accountancy would also be encouraged to apply.
Laura Craddock, Partner with Ashmole & Co said, “Our Apprenticeship Scheme is giving Ceirion the practical skills and qualifications to eventually become a fully qualified accountant. He is being given the opportunity to experience a wide variety of client work and specialisms. I started with Ashmole & Co after I qualified from Cardiff University and I gained my ACCA qualifications through the firm and then worked hard to become a Partner. The Partners strongly believe it is important as a profession that we help to train the next generation of accountants.”
Successful Apprenticeship candidates are offered a fully-funded training package in addition to Ashmole & Co’s basic salary. They are given a permanent contract and are expected to work full time.
