Pembrokeshire builders and designers were praised at the recent South Wales regional finals of the 2016 Local Authority Building Control Excellence awards.
Entrants from Pembrokeshire won one award at the event and were highly commended in a further five categories.
The builders represented Pembrokeshire following their success at the local awards.
W B Griffiths and Sons Ltd of Haverfordwest won the South Wales award for the best social or affordable housing development at Cefn Coed, Scleddau.
W B Griffiths and Sons will now represent South Wales at the Welsh awards to be held in Cardiff later in the year.
The Local Authority Building Control awards were set up 13 years ago to help raise standards in the construction industry.
They celebrate excellence achieved through high building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs.
The Pembrokeshire round of the awards- organised by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Building Control team – were held earlier this year when ten firms were singled out for the quality of their construction work across a range of categories from home extensions to commercial buildings.
The winners at the Pembrokeshire awards were:
- W B Griffiths and Sons Ltd of Haverfordwest for the best social or affordable housing development at Cefn Coed, Scleddau. W B Griffiths and Sons Ltd also won the South Wales award in this category.
- Sion Brace of Tenby for the best local builder or traditional craftsman. Sion was also highly commended at the South Wales awards.
- Mark Conbeer Building Contractors of Pentlepoir for the best change of use or conversion with St Mary’s House, Tenby. This project was also highly commended at the South Wales regional award.
- John Weaver (Contractors) Ltd of Swansea for the best small commercial project with the extension and refurbishment of Twr Y Felin, St David’s. This project was also highly commended at the south Wales regional awards.
- RLH Architectural Design Solutions Ltd of Fishguard for the best LABC Partnership. This award reflects the winner’s longstanding working relationship with Pembrokeshire County Council Building Control. RLH Architectural Design Solutions Ltd were also highly commended at the south Wales regional awards.
- John Greggain of L Greggain and Co Ltd, Milford Haven for the best LABC supervisor of the year for work at Myrtle Meadows, Milford Haven. John was also highly commended at the south Wales regional awards.
- Build Right Building Services Ltd, Newcastle Emlyn for the best home extension and material alteration with Garreg Y Wylan, Goodwick.
- F R J Lloyd & Son Ltd of Letterston for the best individual new home for 2 Anchor Drive, St. David’s.
- L Greggain & Co Ltd, Milford Haven for the best small new housing development with Myrtle Meadows, Milford Haven.
- Andrew Scott Ltd, Haverfordwest for the best educational building with Broad Haven CP School extension.
