SIX schools from around the county have been competing for the chance to get their advert played on the radio.

The competition, which is now in its second year, was organised by Carmarthenshire Markets.
Open to all primary schools in the county, its aim is to promote the county’s indoor and outdoor markets in Carmarthen, Llanelli, Ammanford and Llandeilo.
The winning Welsh and English advert this year was created by Ysgol y Felin in Felinfoel, Llanelli.
Their advert will be played on Radio Carmarthenshire for the first time on Wednesday morning (May 18) to coincide with this year’s national Love Your Local Market campaign.
Also taking part in this year’s competition were: Ysgol Bro Banw, Ysgol Penygroes, Ysgol y Bedol, Ysgol Llangynnwr and Ysgol Nantgaredig.
A team of year five and six pupils from each school have been working with Marc Griffiths from Stiwdiobox to create a 40 second advert in Welsh and English.
A panel of judges, which included market traders, representatives from Radio Carmarthenshire, market managers and council executive board member responsible for the markets Cllr David Jenkins, listened to all the adverts without knowing which school had created which advert, before discussing and selecting the winner.
Cllr David Jenkins, said: “Congratulations to Ysgol y Felin for winning this year’s competition. As judges we were all very impressed with standard and creativity of the adverts. I would like to thank the pupils for their hard work and also the teachers for their support in creating these adverts.”
As well as being able to hear the winning advert on Radio Carmarthenshire, all the adverts will be available to be heard in Llanelli and Carmarthen indoor markets and on www.carmarthenshiremarkets.co.uk.
