A MAN has been fined after he was caught dropping litter on the Riverside Walk in Ammanford.
Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol at the time of the incident.
The man admitted to dropping a food wrapper into the hedge.
He was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 as a result.
If he doesn’t pay he could be prosecuted in the magistrates court where the maximum fine is £2,500.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “We are determined to clean up Carmarthenshire. We don’t want to fine people but if they break the law in this way we have no choice.
“It is unsightly, it is dangerous to animals and it costs the council a lot of money to clean it up.”
