Llanelli LGBTQ+ Support have been awarded £10,000 to help them support the Llanelli LGBTQIA+ Community during the cost of living crisis.

The grant will enable Llanelli LGBTQ+ to employ a grant officer who will meet with the clients to find out what needs they have; work with them to agree a way forward and link in with local support organisation and networks.

Lawrence Williams, chair said:

We’d like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund for awarding this money which will help us provide valuable support to the local LGBTQ+ Community.

Sadly, LGBTQIA+ people are affected much more by the Cost of Living Crisis, and weve also sadly seen a rise of homophobia and transphobia.

This is all making life much harder, which is why well have someone dedicated to provide support. If you need help with the cost of living, then please contact us and the support officer will go through a simple form with you to understand your needs.

Simply call in to one of the monthly drop ins or coffee mornings that will be organised or message us.

Llanelli LGBTQ+ Support Group helps the LGBTQ+ Community and their families across the electoral ward of Llanelli. This includes the areas of Pembrey/Burry Port, Kidwelly, Pontyberem, Llannon, Cross Hands, and Hendy.

The National Lottery Community Fund grant will see the organisation employ a Support Officer, set up a monthly drop in, provide a safe space for coffee mornings, and train volunteers to provide support/information and publicise the project to the community.
