Common sugary breakfast cereals and sugary carbs like pastries should be avoided as they may lead to increased hunger, tiredness and potential long-term health issues.

Foods packed with protein and fibre keep us fuller for longer while supporting healthy digestion, immune function and boosting energy levels.

Consuming foods like chicken, turkey and sweet potatoes for breakfast will have a lasting positive effect on the body.

Ashleigh Tosh from  Prepped Pots powered by MuscleFood.com said: “Breakfast is known as the most important meal of the day for a good reason.

“Unfortunately, many breakfast favourites are high in sugar and low in protein, which causes an extreme blood sugar spike early on in the day, followed by a dip that affects energy levels.

“Many will be surprised to know that consuming foods like turkey and chicken for breakfast will stop the dreaded afternoon crash and keep energy levels high all day.”
