Residents clear out four tonnes of rubbish
RESIDENTS in Felinfoel have cleared out more than four tonnes of rubbish from their homes.
Tidy Towns and Communities First Felinfoel organised two community skip days at Heol Daniel and Danybanc.
Skips were provided for householders to dispose of any unwanted waste they had lying around the home.
Just over two tonnes of rubbish was collected in Heol Daniel and 1.8 tonnes was collected in Danybanc. As much as possible was recycled.
Communities First Development Worker Gaynor Price said: “This was a great opportunity for residents to de clutter their houses and dispose of any waste responsibly.”
Tidy Towns is a Welsh Government-funded initiative which is delivered in partnership by Carmarthenshire County Council and Keep Wales Tidy. The aim is to encourage and support communities to improve the quality of their local environment.
Tidy Towns project officer Simon Troake said: “Events like this are good for the environment as they reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and help to prevent fly-tipping. By working together we can make a real difference to the area in which we live.”
