Children, teachers and staff of Pembrey School returned from their half term break to a brand-new building on Tuesday, 20 February 2024.
The new primary school building, for learners aged 3-11, has a capacity for 270 primary pupils and 30 nursery places and has been delivered as part of Welsh Government and Carmarthenshire’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, Band B investment.
Constructed on land adjacent to the old school site, the new school provides state-of-the-art facilities and accommodation for pupils and staff. The Flying Start facility, which was located in a separate mobile classroom on the former school premises, has been accommodated within the new school building under one roof.
The building was constructed by local contractors, TRJ (Betws) Ltd.
Cllr. Glynog Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh language said:
It’s a pleasure to see the children, teachers and staff of Pembrey School receiving a brand-new school building. This wonderful resource is befitting of the 21st century and I am confident that everybody will be happy in this new learning environment.
An official opening of Pembrey School will take place later this year.
