Sero – Carmarthen’s Community Environment Centre (located next to the indoor market) is excited to be hosting a ‘Seed Week’ 16th – 23rd March. This will be a whole week dedicated to celebrating all things seed related as we head into that time of year where we are getting back out into the garden, and planning what to plant.

The celebration kicks off with Seedy Saturday on the 16th March. This is the much loved annual seed swap and market stall event hosted by Glasbren. If you haven’t attended before, you can expect to enjoy a Spring market with local organisations and traders sharing their stories, their makes and products. Glasbren will be there with their own stall, sharing some of their exciting plans for their new home at Lords Park in Llansteffan, and telling you how you can support the project and get involved. Regular favourites; Tools for Self Reliance will be there, along with the Carmarthen Repair Cafe and much more. Bring along your own gluts of seeds and swap for open pollinated, locally adapted seed.

On Tuesday 19th March Sero welcomes best selling authors Liz Zorab and Huw Richards, local veg expert Peni Ediker and Adam yn yr Ardd for a Q&A known as ‘Ask The Expert – Garden’. The local community will get the chance to ask our panel of green fingered experts all their garden and growing related questions. Expect to pick up hints and tips and be inspired to get out into your garden or community growing space.

On Thursday 21st March, Sero is hosting their third Film Night, showing SEED – The Untold Story, followed by a lively and thought provoking panel discussion with Gerald Miles (Organic Farmer from Pembrokeshire) Katie Hastings (from the Gaia Foundation Seed Sovereignty programme) and Jacqueline Anne Morgan – you may know her as JAM (Chef, local food advocate and photographer).

On Saturday 23rd March, Carmarthen Together – Growing Group will be celebrating Carmarthen’s first Daffodil Festival with workshops running throughout the day making seed bombs. Carmarthen Together joined other local groups and volunteers in planting daffodil bulbs all around town that are all now in full bloom. Pop into Sero to hear more about the projects Carmarthen Together are supporting and have fun making a seed bomb at the same time.
