Today (2nd of March) at their Spring party conference in Cardiff, the Welsh Liberal Democrats have promised a fair deal for Wales if they win the 2024 general election.
Now as part of their 2024 Welsh General Election manifesto, the party have promised to deliver a fair deal for Wales that involves:
· A fair, prosperous and innovative economy that promotes opportunity and wellbeing.
· The development of a comprehensive industrial strategy that focuses on key economic and societal challenges.
· Ensuring that our farmers and food manufacturers are not put at an unfair disadvantage in trade agreements.
· Ensure that parents can access affordable and flexible childcare.
· Fair access to good public services and a strong social safety net.
· A lift on the ban on asylum seekers working if they have been waiting for a decision for more than three months.
· A sustainable global and national environment.
Commenting, the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Jane Dodds MS said:
“We as a party have always put the interests of Wales first, and with this promise of a fair deal, we are continuing that proud tradition.
The out-of-touch UK Conservative government has continually failed our nation, they have routinely embarrassed us on the international stage whilst at the same time taking our communities for granted and then letting them down time and time again.
Meanwhile an ineffective Labour party has been too busy moving the goalposts to settle on a clear cut and viable plan for the future of our country.
Neither party can claim that they have any sort of grip on the reality of the situation, and neither of them can honestly say they have a plan to get us out of it.
The people of Wales deserve better than this mess, they deserve a fair deal.”
Commenting, Welsh Lib Dem PPC for Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tae said:
“ With a general election just around the corner, we have promised the best possible deal for the people of Wales.
A fair deal that delivers on the economy and industry, on agriculture, and childcare amongst many others.
The Conservatives’ failures in government have become increasingly evident over the past few years, change is long overdue.
The people of Wales have had enough of the blues, it’s time for a brighter tomorrow.”
