A series of open day events are set to take place across Carmarthenshire in April to encourage people to explore free training and learning opportunities that can help gain numeracy confidence and maths skills.
From budgeting the weekly shop, to helping kids with homework, or taking a step up at work, there’s a number of reasons you might wish to improve your maths. The Multiply programme delivered by Coleg Sir Gar and Coleg Ceredigion exists to help you develop the confidence and the skills to reach your goals.
Taking their training on the road in April, Mulitply’s team of professional trainers will host open day event across Carmarthenshire to let people explore how free training, delivered in local community hubs, can help:
- Increase confidence with numbers;
- Improve money management;
- Gain confidence helping children with their homework;
- Build skills for employment and career progression.
In addition to giving the opportunity to meet and chat with Multiply’s team over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, the open days are a chance to take part in interactive workshops designed to make mathematics fun. Events held within the school Easter holidays will also provide children’s entertainment that all the family can enjoy.
Multiply’s free training is available for adults aged 19+, who do not already have a GCSE grade c/4 or higher, thanks to support from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity fund.
The Multiply open day events are open to everyone, and can be found at the below locations across the county between 10am and 2pm on the following dates:
- Wednesday 3rd April – Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall, Llandovery, SA20 0DS

Speaking about the open day events, Multiply coordinator Lianne Cuke said:
“We know that many people wish they could improve their confidence with numbers and maths but aren’t sure how they can build the skills they need. Our traveling open days are design to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the free support that’s available to them with Multiply.
“We know that courses like ours can transform people’s lives. So, welcome anyone who would like to find out how joining the classes we’ll hold in their community can help improve how they engage with maths every day, unlock new work opportunities, and gain the confidence they deserve.”
Coleg Sir Gâr has established several additional skills programmes as that are each designed to empower communities across the region by addressing specific needs faced by organisations and individuals. These include, Care 24, Cook 24, and a sustainability focused programme, Green 24.
