Flood Awareness Wales is a programme being delivered by Environment Agency Wales with funding from the Welsh Assembly Government to promote flood awareness to priority sites across Wales.

The programme aims to ensure that people are aware of their individual flood risk; are aware of what they need to do to ensure their own safety during a flood and take the necessary actions when flooding occurs to protect their homes and their families.

What are we doing?

The programme has three main elements.  They are:

  • Welly Boot Tour road show – To raise awareness of the Flood Awareness Wales programme, we are visiting towns across Wales to talk to residents about their risk of flooding and provide helpful tips and advice on how to prepare themselves and their properties against flooding.
  • Door-to-door community engagement – by our specialist Flood Awareness Officers who will work with residents on a one-to-one basis to advise them of their own personal flood risk and help them to prepare personal flood plans and flood kits.
  • Community event programme – targeting community representatives and leaders to encourage them to help prepare their own communities against the risk of flooding.

When is the Welly Boot Tour coming to my town?

The Welly Boot Tour will be in the St Elli Shopping Centre on 20th October 2010.  For more info visit http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/news/events/120166.aspx
