This analysis gives us a clear picture of which football clubs have seen the most incidents over the years, but also breaks it down further for us, with types of crime.

The data included the 2014/15 season to the 2023/24 season, examining government data to identify clubs with a high number of arrests. This approach helps us understand the broader trends in fan behaviour across different clubs.

Here’s a snapshot of what we found:Ā https://www.digitalprlab.co.uk/blog/data-led-digital-prĀ

  • West Ham United: topped the list with 631 arrests, with the majority for public disorder (226) and violent disorder (156). Incidents of throwing objects (104) and pitch invasions (74) were also significant.
  • Leeds United had 607 arrests, with a considerable number for public disorder (193) and alcohol-related issues (137). The club also saw many pitch invasions (77).
  • Manchester United was in third place with 604 arrests, predominantly for public disorder (183) and alcohol-related offences (105). Arrests for using pyrotechnics (42) were also noteworthy.

The method was straightforward: we accessed and analysed government-provided data on football-related arrests and banning orders. By categorising and quantifying different types of offences, we could identify trends and problem areas for each club.
