Congratulations to Chief Superintendent Stuart Parfitt who has been awarded the Queenâs Police Medal in recognition of his services to South Wales Police.
As a result heâs made the Queenâs Birthday Honours List and is in esteemed company, with the likes of referee Nigel Owens also on the list after being awarded an MBE.
The Queenâs Police Medal (QPM) is awarded to police officers for gallantry or distinguished service.
Stuart joined South Wales Police in 1991 and walked the beat in Neath and Bridgend before moving on to manage the specialist operations department where he was responsible for areas including armed response officers, the force helicopter and the horse and dog units.
He then moved to the public service centre in Bridgend until 2014, when he acted as security co-ordinator for the Nato summit.
On the rugby pitch he played for Bridgend and Swansea between 1984 and 1991, before joining South Wales Police. He also won three caps for Wales.
