Young people in Swansea are being asked to help shape services across the city that will affect them for generations to come.

Swansea Council is launching its latest Children and Young People’s Super Survey to get views from all 11 to 19-year-olds across the city.

It is part of Swansea’s commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which the Council has pledged to reflect in everything it does.

Cllr Christine Richards, Cabinet Member for Services for Children and Young People, said: “The survey is part of our continued work to promote the rights of the child and embed the UNCRC in our activities to ensure children and young people are involved in decision-making which affects their lives.

“The youngsters taking part will remain anonymous, but their answers will be used to help the Council and its partners understand what young people think and identify what’s important to them.

“This will help inform decisions on areas affecting young people, including education, wellbeing, leisure opportunities, and health and lifestyle choices.

“It’s important because ultimately it will result in better services and help improve life in the city for other youngsters and their families now and for generations to come.”

The Super Survey is available in English and Welsh and has been developed following feedback on the previous survey from participating schools and individual young people.

It will be carried out in secondary schools and Gower College as well as at youth clubs, community youth groups, and at voluntary organisations between now and July.

The survey, which is now live, can be accessed on any device which has internet access, including smartphones, tablets and computers.
