Welsh Cycling is pleased to announce the provisional calendar for the 2024 Cyclo-Cross season.

The Welsh Cycling Cyclo-Cross series has been going for 19 years and is a staple part of Wales’ calendar. The discipline is one of the most accessible forms of cycling and is perfect for anyone looking to get involved in cycling.

This year we will have an eight-round series with the Welsh Championship event incorporated into Ride Flux’s round, which will take place on November 24 at Pembrey Country Park.

As always, the support from local clubs in helping us put on these series each year cannot be underestimated. This year Gannet Cycling Club, Cwmcarn Paragon, Cardiff Ajax, Pontypool CC, The Bulls, Towy Riders, Ride Flux and Whitchurch CC will all be hosting rounds.

Welsh Cycling’s Events Manager, Andrew Minshaw said: “Cross Is Comin’…and it is coming fast! Starting mid-September, the 2024 CX Welsh Series kicks off with a bang with round 1 at Foxley Estate, and then the rounds come thick and fast over the next few months, with a packed winter of racing taking place at various venues.

“As always, we are looking for more rounds to add to the series, especially with organisers in North Wales, so if you want to get involved, then, please reach out. This year, the 2024 Welsh Championships will take place at Pembrey in conjunction with round 7, hosted by the Ride Flux crew, so a big thank you to them for hosting, as well as a huge thanks to all the other organisers of the series.”

The Welsh Cyclo-Cross League has been well-established, since being set up in 2005, it has grown and provided participants with plenty of opportunities to get stuck into some hard and always muddy racing.

2023 saw a seven round series take place, which saw over 2000 riders enter across all age categories from under six to veterans. As we look forward to the series starting in September, we’ll be hoping for the same turnout of riders.
