Dear editor

I was looking at the companies licensed by Ofgem to generate electricity and noticed that not one of the Bute Energy wind farms hold such a licence.

However, every single one of them, including the ones not yet made public knowledge, have agreements with the Electricity System Operator to connect to the transmission grid.  Once they have such a grid agreement the network operators are obliged to plan for upgrading the grid to accommodate the extra power, which might mean new lines of pylons.

All of this happens BEFORE Ofgem judge them to be a fit and proper company able to supply the grid!

Something just doesn’t feed right to me about how the whole process works.  Speculative developers could be driving lots of unnecessary work!
