Fundraising events at Aberystwyth Golf Club have raised £1,800 for the Colorectal Unit at Bronglais Hospital.

Arwyn Morris, Captain of Aberystwyth Golf Club for 2023, chose the Colorectal Unit at Bronglais Hospital as the charity the golf club would support for the year.

Arwyn said: “We raised the funds through various charity events such as the Captain’s Drive and Captain’s Day plus other small events.

“I selected the Colorectal Unit in Bronglais Hospital as charity of the year as it is a very important service for my family as my wife was treated there for bowel cancer in April 2020. The treatment was carried out during the pandemic, they provided an excellent service that has resulted in my wife fully recovering, she is now clear of cancer.

“Thank you to all the members of Aberystwyth Golf Club and my friends for their support and generous donations.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Arwyn for choosing to support our charity in 2023.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
