Refurbished Orthodontic Practice opens its doors

The newly refurbished Orthodontic Centre in Carmarthen has opened its doors.

Located on The Parade in the town centre, the practice has recently undergone a £350,000 refurbishment to install brand new facilities including a new diagnostic suite with digital x-ray and imaging equipment, a large open plan treatment area and central sterilisation. Full computerisation will also improve working efficiency and facilitate communication with referring dentists and patients.

Darren Hills, Specialist Orthodontist and Clinical Director of Q Dental Care Ltd, who run The Orthodontic Centre said: “We are really excited by the opportunity to expand our business in West Wales and share the Hywel Dda Health Board’s vision of a high quality NHS specialist orthodontic service for the community.”

From 1 April, the provision of community orthodontic services for Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire was awarded to Q Dental Care by Hywel Dda Health Board following a competitive tendering process.

Mrs Sian-Marie James, Vice-Chair of Hywel Dda Health Board, visited the practice this week to see the new facilities: “It was wonderful to see the investment and care that staff at The Orthodontic Centre have made to ensure the best facilities are available for all Hywel Dda patients.

“The Health Board is committed to providing high quality community services and under this new contract a much needed outreach service will also be provided. We will be working with Q Dental Care during the coming months to establish how patient assessments could be delivered in the community in both Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

“Q Dental Care clearly demonstrated to the Health Board their dedication to providing an excellent service in terms of treatment quality, safety and patient outcomes and we believe patients will greatly benefit from the care The Orthodontic Centre will provide.”
