Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Announces the Grand Opening of the Horticultural Village at the 2024 Royal Welsh Show!

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Horticultural Village at the 2024 Royal Welsh Show. This eagerly anticipated event will take place from July 22nd to July 25th at the Royal Welsh Showground marking a significant addition to the show’s extensive array of attractions.
The village is a celebration of all aspects of horticulture in Wales, from community to commercial growing, competitive showing and displays, alongside promoting the health and social benefits of gardening, education and building a resilient supply chain of sustainable Welsh produce.

The ethos is to “inspire, educate and collaborate”. Assistant Honorary Director of Horticulture, Adam Jones expressed his delight at the materialisation of the vision to re-vamp the section within the show “We’re here, after taking a hiatus last year to re-set and re-think how we present the horticulture sector at the Royal Welsh Show” he said.
The Horticultural Village is set to be a vibrant hub of activity, showcasing the very best in horticulture from across Wales and beyond. With areas dedicated to every aspect, the village will provide and unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the world of plants, flowers and sustainable gardening practices.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the traditional elements of the horticultural competitions, along with displays & in the ‘Eisteddflodau’ and the ‘Garddle’ areas. ‘Dysgubor’ will host informative talks, discussions, workshops and learning opportunities across all aspects of the horticultural sector and ‘Y Farchnad’ will provide an area for commercial growers and producers to engage with visitors. There will also be a sensory garden, mini show-gardens and an entertainment area. Adam Jones emphasised his desire to create an area that would bring the community together “The most important element of the show is the people. The village will give us an international stage to promote Welsh Horticulture and to trial concepts, to discuss ideas and to celebrate our successes. We are keen for visitors to come along and to share their experiences and ideas in order to further develop the village in the future”.

The Horticultural Village will be formally opened on Monday 22^nd of July at 11:40am by celebrity expert gardener, Sue Kent, who will also hold a book signing following the launch.
