Tŷ Hafan Football Fives is back and is bringing business together for a feast of five-a-side football and fundraising on Thursday 26 September.
Sponsored by V12 Retail Finance, this year’s day-long tournament will take place at Gol, Lawrenny Avenue, Cardiff and offers a round robin league where teams initially play for position in Champions League, Europa League and ECL stages. The tournament then moves on to knock-out phases, where the winners will go through to the semi-final and then the final.
Each team can have a maximum of eight players comprising a goal keeper, four outfield players and three subs and entry is £495 per team. Demand for places has been high with spaces for just nine more teams now available.
Kelly Dibble, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, said: “The focus of Tŷ Hafan’s Football Fives is on bringing staff together and team-building. We work in a hybrid world these days and Tŷ Hafan’s Football Fives offers the opportunity of a great day out for you and your colleagues and all for a very worthy cause.”
Last year over 20 teams from across South Wales took part, including teams from Principality Building Society, Admiral and Hugh James raising £12,000 for Tŷ Hafan. Participants were treated to post tournament pizza and drinks and were joined by Wales and Cardiff City legend Joe Ledley for an interactive Q&A session.
Sam Palmer from 2023’s winning Principality Building Society team said: “The Tŷ Hafan Football Fives event is an enjoyable day on and off the pitch and a great opportunity for Principality staff to mix with people from other businesses to raise money for such a worthwhile cause, whilst having a bit of a competitive edge!
“Tŷ Hafan has been one of our charity partners for the last few years and the event really helps to raise awareness.”
“At the moment we are only able to support one in ten families who need our help,” adds Kelly Dibble. “When a child’s life is going to be a short life, Tŷ Hafan will walk alongside the family every step of the way, through life, death and beyond.
“Every team that signs up to our Football Fives will be helping us to walk alongside every family that needs our support.
“And don’t worry if you don’t have your team sorted quite yet as we’ll be collecting all the players details closer to the time.”
