The Meadows – ‘Where Will it Lead?’
Haunting melodies and etherial vocals: all sibling, award winning folk band The Meadows’ new single ‘Where Will it Lead?’ is set for release on September 25th. The trio based in the beautiful Welsh countryside, comprise of multi-instrumentalist sisters Melody, Fantasia and Titania. Incorporating a mixture of rich textures and poetic lyrics, their haunting folk inspired music takes the listener on a captivating journey.
Their new song written by Fantasia explores themes of restlessness, self-discovery and faith. With layers of vocal harmonies, whistle, piano and featuring their brother Harvey on violin (former member of the band) and Ryan Aston on drums (Imelda May, James Arthur, Lighthouse Family). The song is set to premier on national and international radio stations.
The mesmerising atmosphere of the song has been brought to the screen with a stunning music video by Rhys Davies of Furball Films, capturing the evocative themes and restless nature. It was filmed in Whitland and Tenby, including use of the beautiful old lifeboat. The narrative of the video was partially inspired by a true story of their great-great-grandparents’ elopement. “It was a magical day to be out on the boat, and Rhys did an amazing job as always of capturing the atmosphere of the song, really bringing it to life,” commented Melody.
The band has previously played at a number of concerts and festivals including Beardy Folk festival, Celtic Connections, and Love Folk. They also toured across the UK with self produced show Celtic Journey. Inspired by bands and artists including Clannad, Secret Garden and Kate Bush, their ethereal vocals and intricate instrumental arrangements create a mesmerising atmosphere for their audiences. Their previous two albums, ‘Force of the Tide’ (Fatea Best Debut Album 2019) and ‘Dreamless Days’ were highly reviewed by audiences around the globe. They were awarded Radio Wigwam Best Folk Act 2021
Their upcoming projects include a new album and tour drawing inspiration from the folk stories around Wales and the beautiful countryside, as well as an exciting recording collaboration with West End star Steve Balsamo (formerly of The Storys and Jesus Christ Superstar).
