Brits are being advised to make the most out of their gardens this autumn by adding seasonal lighting and decor

Garden design experts at LightingLegends.com are encouraging homeowners to continue to make the most of their outdoor spaces even as temperatures begin to lower.

They suggest incorporating striking autumn foliage and creating a cosy seating area that looks warm and inviting for those crisp evenings.

Jon Saeed, Managing Director from LightingLegends.com said: “As we prepare to head into autumn, we want to encourage people to continue to spend time in their gardens and embrace their outdoor space.

“There are plenty of changes you can make to ensure your garden is a cosy, warm and inviting space in the evenings.

“One of the most important things to do is create a suitable seating area. Add outdoor rugs, blankets and throws so that you and your guests stay warm while outside. An outdoor firepit is also a great investment for this.

“The garden in autumn can be a really magical place to spend time especially when it’s enhanced with warm, relaxing lighting and beautiful autumn colours.”

How to make the most out of your garden this autumn:

  1. Introduce autumn foliage

Autumn foliage is striking and vibrant and can make the garden look magical. Introduce plants into your garden that showcase warm autumn colours like maples and dogwoods.

  1. Add seasonal lighting

Enhance autumn colours in your garden and warm up the area by adding some seasonal lighting such as warm-toned fairy lights or lanterns. If you have autumn trees or plants in your garden like oaks, use spotlights to highlight their colours.

  1. Create a cosy seating area

Turn your summer seating area into a cosy cocoon by adding warm throws, blankets, cushions and outdoor rugs. Fire pits are also a great investment to keep warm and allow you to extend your garden time during the evenings.

  1. Incorporate seasonal decor

With Halloween and Christmas on the way there’s plenty of fun to have with seasonal decor. Use lighting to add a rustic charm and place pumpkins and autumn wreaths around your space to make the most of the cosy season.

  1. Add a water fountain

Not only is the sound of a water fountain relaxing but the feature will also provide birds with some much needed hydration during the autumn. Fountains are less likely to freeze over in cold conditions and are generally more insect free in comparison to ponds thanks to the constant flow of water.

  1. Incorporate pathways

Now is a good time to incorporate more pathways in your garden for easier navigation during wet weather. Add stepping stones or gravel footpaths from your door to your seating area for easy access. It’s also worth lighting the way with solar powered lights to give the garden an inviting look in the crisp early evenings.

  1. Add garden accessories

To maintain interest in your garden try adding some garden accessories such as wind chimes and wind spinners.
