With Guy Fawkes night taking place later today, there’s a risk drivers might be distracted by the flashes of fireworks. Rhydian Jones, Confused.com car insurance expert comments:
“Guy Fawkes night is a fun time for family and friends to get together and enjoy fireworks displays. But with bright flashes of fireworks going off throughout the evening, there’s a risk for those on the road being distracted, which could lead to dangerous driving.
“Our research found that 1 in 5 (20%) feel unconfident driving at night. And with sudden distractions like loud bangs and bright lights, there’s a risk drivers might lose focus. This could lead to sudden movements while driving, and bonfire smoke could impact vision.
“If you can’t avoid driving while fireworks are going off tomorrow night, make sure you stay focused and stick to speed limits. And using your fog lights should help if you can’t see clearly due to smoky conditions.”
