Despite so many hacks being shared on the internet, there’s only one way to safely and effectively defrost your car – and it should never involve hot water!
Experts at LKQ Euro Car Parts explain how to defrost your windscreen quickly, and without any unnecessary gimmicks:
“Start your car engine and turn on the heaters, blasting the air towards your windscreen and windows to heat them up and melt the ice. While you do this, it’s important to never leave your vehicle unattended, as it is more susceptible to theft.
“Whilst the heaters are defrosting from the inside, use an ice-scraper to remove any snow or ice from the windows, ensuring there are no clumps stuck to the windscreen wipers, as this can prevent them from working properly. Make sure not to use your wipers until they are fully cleared, otherwise you risk damaging the motor.
“If the ice on your windscreen is particularly stubborn, spray de-icer across the glass to melt the excess away. Always wait until your windscreen is fully clear before driving off.”
