Set in the snowy Scottish Borders, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is the perfect getaway for an enchanting Christmas or New Year celebration. This historic manor, surrounded by 300 acres of countryside, combines timeless elegance with modern luxury. With the Scottish Borders’ first outdoor spa, 51 newly-added self-catering cottages and Scottish bistronomy restaurant Charlie’s, it’s an idyllic retreat for families, couples, and those seeking a tranquil winter escape.

This festive season, SCHLOSS Roxburghe is introducing brand new children’s festive afternoon teas to match their classic Christmas afternoon tea offering, as well as a new Santa’s Grotto, which will transform the recently opened Kio Kids’ Club.

Festive afternoon teas

Available from 1st December to 5th January, this season SCHLOSS Roxburghe is introducing two new festive afternoon teas: one for adults, and one for children. The adult Festive Afternoon Tea (£42pp) includes savoury delights such as Truffled Brie and Pear Crostini, Roast Turkey, Confit Shallot & Sage Stuffing on Malted Brown Bread and Pork and Cranberry Sausage Rolls, as well as scones with Winter Spiced Apple Jam and clotted cream, and sweet treats such as Winter Spiced Loaf Cake with Whipped Gingerbread Ganache and Orange and Dark Chocolate Bauble.

Younger diners can enjoy their own Children’s Festive Afternoon Tea (£21pp), which includes tasty bites such as turkey sandwiches, pork sausage rolls, cranberry jam sandwiches, chocolate reindeer and decorate-your-own gingerbread men.

Santa’s Grotto

For the first time ever, SCHLOSS Roxburghe’s brand new Kid’s Club will be transformed into a winter wonderland, where children will be given the opportunity of a lifetime – a meeting with Santa! Available each Sunday from 1st-22nd December at either 10am or 1pm, children will receive a delicious hot chocolate on arrival with marshmallows for toasting, as well as a Christmas present from the man with the bag himself. £25 per child – hotel stay not required.

Christmas Day Lunch 

Treat the entire family to SCHLOSS Roxburghe’s classic Christmas Day Lunch, available from 12:30pm on 25th December for £135pp. The five-course adults’ menu includes canapés, starters such as Roasted East Coast Scallops, Confit Pumpkin, and Pork Cheek with Granny Smith Apple and Black Pudding, and traditional mains such as Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, Poached Salmon or Mushroom and Roast Nut Wellington. Follow with a Mulled Wine Sorbet before enjoying a dessert of Dark Chocolate & Orange Gateau, Eggnog Panna cotta with Cranberry Compote Gingerbread Tiramisu or Panettone.

Kids aren’t left out thanks to their own Christmas Day Menu, which offers a selection of kids’ classic dishes as well as a miniature turkey dinner and decorate-your-own gingerbread men.

New Year’s Dinner and Party

Ring in 2025 in true Scottish style with SCHLOSS Roxburghe’s New Year’s Dinner and Party.

Diners can enjoy a five-course meal with locally-sourced dishes such as citrus-cured trout, Borders beef fillet, winter truffle and celeriac risotto and dark chocolate and coffee opera with blackcurrant sorbet. After dinner, guests can party their way into 2025 with a live band, DJ, and fireworks on the stroke of midnight. £195pp.

Winter cottage stays

Opened in July 2024, SCHLOSS Roxburghe’s 51 dog-friendly, self-catering cottages are elegantly appointed with sumptuous furnishings, Molton Brown toiletries and freestanding baths or rainfall showers, with some offering in-built saunas. The one-bed and two-bed cottages are a great fit for those looking for their own space and privacy, all while still enjoying the benefits of being a short walk away from the many amenities of SCHLOSS Roxburghe hotel. The proximity of the new cottages to the award-winning golf course (and space for equipment) makes it ideal for golfers, while groups of friends will love being so close to the hotel’s outdoor spa.

PRICES: Select dates in December are still available to book now – including Fri 27th Dec-Sun 29th Dec. December prices for cottages start at £336pn. Cottages receive £25 credit per cottage daily for use in the Estate Market, and can buy discounted spa day passes for access to the spa.
