Torfaen Tigers easily won the battle of Wales despite being down to 12 men for an hour of the game.
They were already 26-6 down at this point. Jamie Tucker and Micki Witts having run in the first two Tigers’ tries with Matt Cummins converting both.
Kyle Rose, on loan from Cardiff City RL, hit back for Raiders with a quick try after several Tigers mistakes and Taylor Phillips converted.
Dale Tucker and Jarrad Hinnem each scored uncoverted efforts to make it 20-6 before Sam Baker added the fifth try and Cummings converted.
Torfaen’s Tom Matthews was then sent off for stamping and just one more try was added before the break, Cummings scoring to make it 30-6, but there was no stopping the Tigers in the second half.
Chris Wannell took the first points of the half to make it 34-6 before Iwan Maize replied for West Wales.
That was it for the Raiders’ scoring but the Tigers ran in five more.
Cummings, Tucker, Wannell and Witts each added their second tries of the game with Cummings converting the first three.
And in the final move of the game, 16-year old Euan Morris scored on his senior debut to wrap up a superb day for the men from Cwmbran.
