England Colleges easily overcame Wales under 18s in a quickly arranged friendly match on Saturday.
Wales had a number of players out due to injuries and club commitments and it showed, as England took the lead after just six minutes. Jack Render crosses on the left after England spread the play.
Eight minutes later, Ben Blakeston spotted a gap in the Wales line defence and scooted from dummy half.
On 21 minutes, Joslin Landu offloaded close to the line and Blakeston grabbed his second. From kick-off, Joe Hartley dummied through the line on the right edge and had enough pace to finish.
That was before Tom Egan’s bomb caused mayhem, hitting the underside of the bar and fell to Dante Morley who scored. Egan converted, as he did with all the others to make it 30-0.
On the half-hour, Hartley once again found a gap on the right and raced 50 metres to score. Egan missed on this occasion.
Wales scored their first consolation try just before the interval. A bomb wasn’t dealt with and Jake MacDonald picked the ball up to score. Fraser Stroud missed the kick and England were 34-4 up at the break.
England increased their lead 10 minutes into the second half, spreading the ball right and Harry Chapman cut inside to finish under the posts, Zac Hartley converted.
Three minutes later, Chapman offloaded to Hartley who scored under the posts and converted his own try.
The tries were now coming in quick succession as the inexperienced Welsh side folded.
James Teixiera broke the line and Danny King finished try number nine.
Then Chapman broke through the Welsh defence and rounded the full back to score. Straight after that, his pass found Jack Render for the next try.
England marched up the field from kick-off and Jack Uren scooted over from dummy half to score. Hartley kept up his 100% kicking record to increase their lead to 70-4.
Wales finished the second half like they did the first, by scoring a try. Macauley Harris jumped from dummy half and George Bidwell Ford converted.
