Big Christmas Share to bring festive hamper joy to Flintshire families
Flintshire families supported by Action for Children will receive Christmas hampers this year thanks to the amazing generosity of Steve Harrison and his Big Christmas Share fundraising drive.
Steve (35), an EDF project manager from Buckley, Flintshire is aiming to raise at least £5,000 and provide hampers to families supported by Action for Children and Trussell Trust, Flintshire Foodbank, Chester Aid to The Homeless, Erw Groes and Save the Family as well as Flintshire and Chester Councils’ social services. Action for Children staff will gather at Aldi in Queensferry with Steve on the 23rd December and distribute the hampers across the county.
This is Steve’s third year of Christmas fundraising in Flintshire. In 2023, he raised £3,000 through his Go Fund Page and hampers were delivered to 68 families supported by Action for Children’s Flintshire Family Support project.
The Mold-based Flintshire Family Support project works with children, young people and their families who require therapeutic support and may have had trauma in their lives. They provide a range of therapeutic services depending on the issues being faced and their individual needs.
Steve said: ‘The cost-of-living crisis has hit families very hard, and Christmas is a time when financial pressures can bite even harder. This has inspired me to continue trying to make a difference and bring some festive cheer to the families who need it most in our communities. I hope as many people as possible can help the Big Christmas Share and spread some much needed joy in Flintshire this Christmas.’
Pam Pritchard, practice manager for the Flintshire Family Project, said: ‘We’re absolutely delighted Stephen is firing up his fundraising efforts for us again this Christmas. We see first-hand how hard Christmas can be for too many of our families with some not being able to afford presents or celebrations this year. Receiving a hamper will bring smiles to their faces and knowing they are not forgotten by the wider community is also hugely important. Huge thanks to Stephen once again and hope everyone who can gets involved and make it the best Big Christmas Share yet.’
