It’s just 8/11 that James Cordon and Ruth Jones release a Gavin & Stacey spin-off show.
A prequel to the popular series is 11/10, just ahead of a play/musical (5/4). It’s 2/1 that the pair work on a remake/reboot of Fat Friends, while a Gavin & Stacey movie is 3/1.
Pete & Dawn are the 13/8 favourites to be the focus of any potential spin-off, with Gwen & Dave Coaches (2/1) and Neil The Baby (5/2) next.
The Gavin & Stacey finale was the talk of Christmas just gone, and the hype around the show has continued into 2025 as fans are desperate for some sort of spin-off.
James Corden and Ruth Jones are the brains behind the successful series. But both insisted during the run-up to the final episode that there won’t be another, and it’s 4/7 for that to be the case.
Gambling.com Entertainment Expert James Leyfield has looked at the various probabilities for what the pair could write together:
BBC bosses are said to be “living in hope” that a potential spin-off emerges one day, and it’s 8/11 that Cordon and Jones grant their wish. Meanwhile it’s 11/8 that a spin-off doesn’t happen.
Gavin & Stacey On Stage
If a prequel did get off the ground then that would tick the Gavin & Stacey spin-off box, and the news would surely delight the show’s fans.
It’s 11/10 for a Gavin & Stacey prequel to get the green light, but it’s just 5/4 for the pair to write a Gavin & Stacey musical or play.
The Christmas Day finale of Gavin & Stacey ensured the programme became one of the most watched scripted TV shows of the century.
But none of it would’ve been possible without British drama Fat Friends, on which Ruth and James met. And it’s 2/1 that the pair pen a reboot/remake of the show.
It’s 4/1 the pair create a new version of The History Boys and 6/1 they do the same for One Man, Two Guvnors.
But after penning a Gavin & Stacey book together, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Ruth and James co-wrote a novel together (8/1).
Pete And Dawn Sequel
Adrian and Julia Davis’ characters Pete and Dawn are the current frontrunners to be the subject of a show spin-off, at 13/8, followed by Stacey’s mum Gwen and Nessa’s ex Dave Coaches (2/1).
It’s 3/1 that Uncle Bryn – played by Rob Brydon – and Jason are the main subjects, which might mean viewers will finally get to find out what happened on the mystery fishing trip all those years ago.
