Commenting on the 2016 National Student Survey results, published this week, Shadow Secretary for Skills Mohammad Asghar said:
“While the overall rise in student satisfaction for Welsh universities and colleges is to be welcomed, it is worrying to see that Cardiff University was marked by one of the largest falls on this measure.
“As Wales’ only Russell Group university, and as the biggest HE contributor to the Welsh economy, the University needs to ensure that it remains a desirable and competitive place to study.
“I’ll be urging Welsh Government Ministers to ensure they provide the institution, others, and the whole HE sector, the appropriate support to improve, and nurture, student satisfaction; which can play such a pivotal role in an individual’s future prospects.
“Indeed, student satisfaction scores sit high on prospective students’ criteria when deciding where to pursue their degrees, and it is vital that Cardiff consistently asserts itself among the NSS league table’s top-20.”
