Youngsters in Llanelli have been taking inspiration from Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin and getting in the swim.

The Actif Club at Llanelli Leisure Centre is holding a fortnight of Olympic-themed events to celebrate Rio 2016 and yesterday’s sports were swimming and diving.

Carmarthenshire County Council Activity Coordinator Mari-Ann Jones said: “We are fortunate to have fantastic swimming facilities on offer as part of the Actif Club and children benefit from the water activities on offer. There is a programme of daily structured activities in the pool to help children develop their water confidence, fitness and learn new skills.

“One of their favourite activities is the ‘Water Olympics session’ where they are put into teams of countries taking part in Rio 2016 and compete is various fun activities to gain points for their country. Coincidentally they all want to be in our ‘Team GB’ to be like their heroes Jazz Carlin and Adam Peaty!”
