The Ghost of Sarah Beal

Location: Achddu, Burry Port

IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY there was a corn grinding mill below Achddu, which was later converted into domestic accommodation.

Local tradition suggests that between the two World Wars the property was haunted by a young woman with flaxen hair who was said to be Sarah Beal. Sarah would often visit her sister who lived at the mill and she would sleep on the floor in one of the rooms.

In 1879, a couple of months after Sarah married she was found dead on the floor of the room where she slept at the mill. A ghost who was said to be Sarah was often seen by her sister and the people who lived at the mill in later years.
