As a make-up artist I feel that make up should match the features and face shape rather than the outfit, although the colours should blend in with what the bride will be wearing.

Make up application should have no harsh lines, this is so everyone will see the features and the colour of the eyes not just the make-up. Bringing out the eyes is a must and I always keep the make-up application soft and very natural, so no bright blues on this occasion.

I see many brides of all ages from the early twenties to the late 50’s and every single bride is special no matter of their age.

Make up is important, not only for helping to give confidence and looking fabulous, it will also make a real difference for the wedding photographs themselves.

Make up is an essential ingredient of any women’s wedding day preparation and by having a professional make-up consultation months before the wedding, brides will have the re-assurance that they are going to be looking their best.

Foundation in my view is the most important factor when I apply make up for weddings. The foundation is the canvas and once applied and set this will enable the rest of the make up to sit in place for much longer.

My make-overs have been known to last for over 20 hours. This of course helps my clients so that they can forget about topping up makeup. Lipstick is the only thing that should be applied regularly and Boujour and No.7 do a great selection of lip colours and glosses.

On the day emotions can run high too―and waterworks can wreak havoc with our eye makeup. Tears have saline in them, so when they hit the lashes, mascara will start to run or clump. I use a good waterproof mascara for all my brides, and it’s also worth investing in one, so that you are able to use it for other special occasions. Maybelline provide a great waterproof mascara.

Sometimes nerves can also set in on the morning of the big day and the last thing you need is an unsteady hand which could make the cosmetics look a little untidy. Makeup artists can take away the stress of the bride worrying about makeup application.
