Passers-by are now able to get a sneak peek at the new-look Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.
The removal of construction hoardings outside the Alexandra Road attraction means the new entrance is among the features in sight.
Leading in the new reception, café and shop area, the new, street-level entrance sits underneath a glass bridge between the 1911 building and a new extension that’s been added to the gallery.
The attraction will be re-opening to the public on Saturday October 15 following the completion of a multi-million pound redevelopment and restoration project funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Swansea Council, the Welsh Government and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Funding was also secured through the Building Enhancement Programme grant scheme run by Swansea Council and funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: “The removal of the site hoardings shows that the countdown is now very much on to the re-opening of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery on Saturday October 15.
“The redeveloped and restored attraction will transform the Glynn Vivian into a destination gallery of international significance, helping further open up the arts to both the people of Swansea and visitors from far afield.”
A flamboyant parade through the city centre will take place in the build-up to the gallery’s re-opening.
