Pivac expecting a great contest at the Parc

Scarlets will welcome Connacht Rugby to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday evening and the region’s head coach Wayne Pivac says he’s expecting a great contest between the two sides.

After three rounds of the GUINNESS PRO12 both sides are heading into the huge fourth round clash, at Parc y Scarlets, without a win and without a point on the board.

The reigning champions Connacht will be heading to Parc y Scarlets on Saturday evening, kick-off 7.35pm, looking for their first win of the season in just the same way that the Scarlets will be hoping home advantage can get the season on track.

Speaking earlier this week Pivac said; “We’re obviously disappointed with where we are after three games and it’s not lost on the team. There’s a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes here at the Parc.

“I think it’s fair to say that the league position isn’t a true reflection of how we’re playing. We are creating enough opportunities to win games of rugby.”

Scarlets failed to capitalise on opportunities against Ulster last Friday evening with Pivac going on to say; “There were good aspects against Ulster, who are one of the better sides in the competition, it was a step up for us but we’re still after that win which we’re concentrating on getting this weekend.

“The frustrating part is that we’ve started well in all three games. The disappointment is that we haven’t been able to capitalise on those starts.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s clash he said; “It’ll be a great contest; you wouldn’t want to be the team that comes off second! This really is a big game for us.

“It’s good to be back at home here at the Parc and the boys are very much looking forward to it. Hopefully there’s a boisterous crowd here to lift the team and get a decent performance out of it.”
