The council apologises for any inconvenience but would like to reassure residents that action is being taken resolve the problem.
Officers are looking at the routes of refuse/recycling rounds throughout the county and are adding extra vehicles where necessary.
Two additional vehicles have been added in Llanelli and one in Carmarthen.
Residents are being advised however, that collections may take place later in the day than previously. Therefore any possible missed collections should only be reported the following day.
Executive Board Member for Street Scene Cllr Colin Evans said: “Firstly, the council would like to apologise for the problems we have experienced with collections recently. We would also like to thank residents for their patience during this time. However, I have been assured that the worst is over and we are already seeing an improvement with the service.
“I would also like to thank the staff in our contact centre who have had to deal with a huge increase in calls.
“It’s important that we continue to recycle as much of our waste as possible and I hope residents will continue to take part in the scheme. I know it can be extremely frustrating when there are problems with collections, but I would like to reassure householders that blue bags are always recycled and food waste composted. I would like to say again, we appreciate your co-operation.”
